INTERIOR BASEMENT WATERPROOFING TORONTO

Interior Waterproofing Systems are popular waterproofing solutions for homeowners whose basements are unfinished, underpinned or constructed of block, cement, and stone. Interior drainage systems work to waterproof your basement from the inside and do not require extensive modifications to the home. These interior basement waterproofing solutions generally cost a fraction of the price of an exterior waterproofing solution, making them an appealing option for homeowners. However, waterproofing the basement from the inside will protect the basement interiors only, leaving the foundation walls unprotected outside.

MORE INFO:

When installing an interior drainage system a contractor will first excavate the trench, install weeping tile pipe and connect the weeping tile to the Sump-Pump System. Basements constructed using blocks may then be drilled to release any residual water before a plastic or rubber drainage membrane is installed. Drainage pipes are also fitted to help channel water below and away from the basement flooring. Any gaps and spaces are then filled with stone and cement. Interior drainage systems are currently the only viable long-term solution for waterproofing a basement from the inside, as they will not weaken a home’s foundation over time or affect the structural integrity of the structure.

When waterproofing your basement there are a variety of factors to consider. Between hiring a contractor and determining your home’s specific needs, the cost is one aspect which can weigh heavily on a homeowner’s mind. However, waterproofing your basement doesn’t need to be as expensive as you may think. Depending on your home’s unique requirements you might consider waterproofing your basement from the inside to cut down the time and cost associated with a repair.

INTERIOR WATERPROOFING STEPS

1. EXPOSED FOUNDATION WALL
The foundation wall and footing are exposed and cleaned from the basement inside to prepare for the interior waterproofing.
2. MEMBRANE INSTALLATION
Plastic Membrane (dimple board) is installed to provide a gap between the foundation and basement interior. Membrane stops the water and drains it down to the foundation footing and the weeping tile pipe.
3. NEW WEEPING TILE
New plastic, corrugated and perforated pipe (Weeping Tile) with filter cloth is installed to collect, and direct storm water to the drainage point such as main storm drainage pipe or the Sump-Pump System.
4. SUMP-PUMP SYSTEM
The Sump-Pump System is a combination of: Sump-Tank, Sump-Pump, Valve, Drainage Pipe, Sensor and Alarm. The Sump-Pump System collects the storm water from the Weeping Tile pipe and drains it outside of the building.
5. GRAVEL BEDDING
The grave is applied around the Weeping Tile to support the pipe and to help to infiltrate the water from the soil.
6. CONCRETE RESTORATION
The concrete layer covers the bottom of the Membrane, Gravel, Weeping Tile Pipe and Foundation Footing - sealing all Interior Waterproofing components and restoring the basement floor.
